Mr.

Mathematics is not about numbers, equations,
computations, or algorithms: it is about understanding.
William Thurston
Dear First Grade Families,
This week we will be completing our second MAP test.
This weeks test focuses on Mathematics and problem
solving. In first grade we use the CUBES method to find
the solution to problems.
Circle the numbers and units
Underline the question
Box key words
Eliminate and evaluate
Show your work and check
While knowing that basic fact knowledge is important,
the reason that we need math in our lives is to solve
problems. This week, I encourage you to find and solve
problems as a family, that require basic math skills in
your everyday lives.
