Throughout the video, choose a fish that youd like to do more
research on. You may also do additional research to find a fish that is
native to the Great Barrier Reef. If you are unsure if the fish is from
the reef, ask your teacher.

Graph
At each site you are exploring, keep track of how many times you see the specific
fish you chose to do research on (before the trip). The goal is to see which area of
the reef has the highest density of that type of fish. After graphing, write a short
explanation of why you think the numbers are the way they are. For example, if
the fish is most prominent in site one, is it the amount of coral that draws the
fish?
EXplain
Main Topic
Notes
Explain
While snorkeling, observe various areas of the reef and examine areas that seem
to be diminishing. Take photos of these areas in order to reflect upon the reasons
for the wasting away. Compare these sections to ones that are thriving. Explain
the environmental factors that may have resulted in the some of reef diminishing
and some thriving.
Elaborate
Using information gained on the trip, pick one of the follow questions to research
and create an action plan.
What can you do to help the reef?
What can you do to help people become aware of the reef?
What are some ways that people are trying to preserve the reef?
