JPEG Files

JPEG compression is
great if youre just trying
to send an image online.
When you zoom into a
jpeg, or stretch it for a
poster, there is a
noOceable loss of
quality, meaning
pixilated edges on your
image. JPEGs do not
support a transparent
background so there is a
white box around the
image.

GIF Files

GIF les force the image

into 256 colors to
reduce the le size.
Images with detail can
look blotchy, and o2en
you can see the pixels in
the image. They are
o2en used on the
internet because they
are small les, they load
quickly, and they can be
easily animated.

PNG Files

PNG les are larger, so

they are not as o2en
used on the web. They
are considered
lossless, meaning their
quality doesnt change
when made smaller or
larger. They also support
transparency, so if you
are using a background
you can avoid the white
box.
