Used before words that begin with vowel (a,e,i,o,u)

Example: an apple

Used before words with silent h

Example: an hour, an honest girl

- Used for things, person or animal we mention for the second time
Example: I have a cat. The cats name is Meow.

Used for specific item

Example: Where is the book you borrowed from me?

Used for a thing or person where there is only one

Example: The moon is beautiful.

Used when we know what thing or person we talk about

Example: The Queen of England
