NOTICE OF POSITION VACANCY

Adult Basic Education Teachers
Madison, Tipton, and Hamilton Counties

Length of Contract
These positions are temporary contract positions to teach part time classes during the daytime and evenings, excluding
school holidays, beginning April 2016. The contract may be renewable upon satisfactory performance, sufficient
enrollment, and funding availability. (This contracted position is not covered by the ECSC-ECTA Master agreement.)
The current length of funding is from July 2015-June 2016. Currently, we have assignments open in Noblesville.

Salary
Based on part time adult education teacher pay scale. Currently $30 and $35 per hour.

Instructor Qualifications
1. The teacher must hold a valid Indiana teaching license and obtain a limited criminal history check.
2. The successful applicant will:
a. possess strong algebra and English skills
b. interact positively with students,
c. possess a sincere desire to work closely with adults, providing a great deal of encouragement and
support,
d. employ innovative teaching strategies in the implementation of the curriculum, including the use of
instructional websites.

Instructor Responsibilities
1. The teacher will be responsible for:
a. assisting learners with English, math, science, social studies, and reading comprehension in
preparation for the HSE battery of examinations, college preparation, and entry or advancement in the
workplace.
b. learner assessment, selection of appropriate learning materials, individual, small and whole group
lesson plans and development of individualized adult education plans.
c. attendance and participation in in-service workshops and staff meetings, usually at Hinds Career
Center. Staff meetings will be once per semester on Wednesday evenings.
