Roles for Playing Cards

You will each be given a playing card. Each card

represents a different role that you are responsible for
fulfilling for the class period.
Even cards If you are given an even card (2,4,6,8, or
10) you are responsible for answering questions on the
study guide. Be prepared to share your answers with the
rest of the class.
Odd cards If you are given an odd card (1,3,5,7, or 9)
you are responsible for creating questions about what is
being read in class. The questions cannot be a question
that is already asked on the study guide. This is your
opportunity to ask a question about anything that you are
unsure or confused about.
Face cards If you are given a face card (Jack, Queen,
King, or Ace) you are responsible for reading out loud in
class for the day.
Jokers SURPRISE! If you receive a Joker card for the
class period, the teacher will assign your role that day.
Joker cards do not have a set role and change daily. Your
role can be anything from being asked to read, to acting
out a scene from the novel while it is being read out loud.
