Are a interactive software based system.
Intended to help managers in decision making.
uses summary information, exception ,patterns, and
trends.
Decision makers compile information from raw data
,documents , personal information and business models to
identify and solve problems and make decisions .

OBJECTIVES
Assist managers in making decisions to solve problems
Support the managers judgment rather than try to replace
Improve the managers decision-making effectiveness
rather than its efficiency

TYPES OF DECISIONS..
Programmed decisions
Are basically automated processes , general routine work.
Ex- selecting a re-order level for inventories.
Non-Programmed decisions
Occurs in unusual and non-addressed situations.
Ex- investing in a new technologies.

To solve to a problem, the necessary data may come from
DBMS internal or external databases.

stores and accesses models that managers use to make

decisions.

Online help, pull- down menus, user interfaces, graphical
