SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES TO MEET GOALS:

TSWBAT prepare well for testing, do to well taken notes in class through this
review lesson.
TSWBAT better understand content that has previously been gone over.
TSWBAT apply geometric transformations to problems that will be given in
tests and real life.
COMMON CORE STANDARD GRADE 8 (Geometric Transformations):
Understand that a two-dimensional figure is congruent to another if the
second can be obtained from the first by a sequence of rotations, reflections,
and translations; given two congruent figures, describe a sequence that
exhibits the congruence between them.
MOTIVATIONAL TECHNIQUES:
Ask students questions getting them involved in the lesson which with
hopefully spark interest in the lesson.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Smart board, review packet.
PROCEDURE FOR THE LESSON:
- Start off the lesson with a weekly warm-up problem. Every day starts
with one of these. The teacher will walk through the problems with
students (5 minutes).
- Begin going over first review packet. Students are in test preparation
mode so we will be reviewing for the test (10-15 minutes).
- Begin going over second review packet which will require the usage of
the smart board. Also review for the test (10-15).
- After the second review packet, students will get handouts that they
will complete until the period is over (10-20 minutes).
ACADEMIC LANGUAGE:
Congruent, similar, reflection, dilation, rotation, translation, Pythagorean
Theorem.
ASSESSMENT METHODS:
In class tests.

EVALUATION OF FIELD EXPERIENCE STUDENTS PERFORMANCE:

This lesson went very. I was able to evaluate my weaknesses of my first
lesson and then improve upon them here. Some mistakes I made was at
times I was a little unclear of indecisive with what I was saying, but as it goes
for improving upon last time, I was better able to manage the pace of the
lesson by slowing down and making sure I was getting student feedback that
indicated improvement.
