Reflection /, dents. | tke that this lesson required students to take ownership of their learning track. They had to take a deep look at their own abilities and comfort level in order to choose which challenge was right for them. This is great for establishing metacognitive skills. | usually use formative assessments to choose small groups for my class. | thought this strategy was & fantastic way to differentiate for each students’ individual needs. Instead of me assessing the data, students formatively assessed themselves using criteria to determine the level of support they needed. | thought this lesson would be completed in one class period (70 minutes), but it ended up taking two because | gave students a few rounds to reflect on their progress and change levels i definitely teach this lesson again. Instead of planning it as a one day’ lesson, | think | would make it process in order for students to move up each level. if necessary. | would it a week-long {teach an on-level 4th grade math class and felt that this Graduated Difficulty lesson was a good fit for my
