Video Reflection
After watching the video of my teaching, I am impressed by the
amount of growth that I have shown since the beginning of the year. I
seem much more confident and self-assured in front of the class. For
example, when I was giving directions to the classroom in the fall,
there were times that I would give directions too fast or miss certain
crucial points. My directions during this video were succinct and clear
and emphasized the most important points that the students had to
follow. I also realized that my decision to not only recite the directions,
but also to post them on the board or put them on a PowerPoint has
been beneficial to my students. It seems like many more students
understood the directions in the class during this video than during the
video in the fall.
The portion of my lesson that I taped was the Do Now going to
the introduction to new material. I really enjoyed how I framed the
material/objective after the Do Now to relate what we talked about
yesterday to what we were studying today. This not only gives students
a framework for where we are going in the lesson, but it also helps to
reinforce the key points from yesterdays class. I believe that the
students would be even more engaged in I could incorporate my
students into this transitional period, whether it be by asking them

something that pertains to themselves or doing a quick think-pairshare.
