Hello Everyone! My name is Rubn De Pea.

I am Dominican by birth and American by

choice. I was born and raised in Puerto Plata, a beautiful resort town in the north of the
Dominican Republic. I arrived in the U.S. not too long after I received my bachelors
degree in business in the early nineties. I had mostly worked in international sales for
the publishing industry until 2005, when I decided to change careers.
This is my second semester in MLS/Organizational Leadership. Going back to school
after more than 25 years is very difficult in light of so many family and professional
obligations, yet I know that once I obtain this degree I will be better equipped to
accomplish my short and long term professional goals. One of those goals is to become
a consultant in transformational leadership practices for organizations catering to
multilingual/multicultural communities.
Currently, I work for the Metropolitan Nashville Public School (MNPS) system as
Community Outreach Specialist with emphasis in immigrant and refugee populations.
As part of my tasks, I assist in securing internal or external resources necessary for
success of our at-risk students. Another key component of what I do is in the area of
communications. I host a couple weekly Spanish-language educational radio shows to
keep families informed on relevant educational programs and events.
On the personal side, I live in Hendersonville (Nashville, Tennessee, area) with my wife
and two sons (ages 15 and 12), with a third one on the way, which is an unexpected
surprise.
I look forward to getting to know and working with all of you!
