RECOGNITION OF FOREIGN DRIVING LICENSE.
Section 28 of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987, explaining that “a license issued
eeler the corresponding provisions of any law in force in any State which becomes a
party to the treaty to which Malaysia is a party and which purports fo recognize
cervastic driving licenses issued by the contracting states shall, 60 long as such license
fomains in force in that State, be deemed a license granted under this Part.
Pursuant to Section 28, 1987 APJ above, holders of foreign driving license can drive in
this country as long as foreign domestic driving license is stil valid operation brings with
it a translation in English or Bahasa Malaysia (if the license in a language other than
Bahasa Malaysia or English) which was approved by the embassy of the original driving
ligense in Malaysia or the producer of the driving license. In this regard, a foreign
national is not required to hold a driving license to drive in Malaysia Malaysia. In
addition, foreign nationals who wish to drive in this country also have the option to use
an Intemational Driving Permit (International Driving Permit, IDP). Driving License for
