The Olympic Rings

The five rings are said to represent the

five continents of the earth.

The colors were taken from the flags of

the countries all over the world at the
time that the symbol was designed.

The way the rings interlink shows how the

countries of the world can come together
in

UNITY.

The Olympic Torch

In ancient greek times, where the
Olympics began, it was said that the torch
was lit using the suns rays in the city of
Olympia. In todays times, that ceremony
takes place each time the Olympics is
held to honor that tradition.
The flame is then carried to the city of
Athena, to honor the goddess Athena and
then carried to the city that is hosting the
games.
