Try to remember about a time you were in a public ceremony where you
were involved. Write about how you and your family prepared for the
event. If you were never involved in a ceremony, write about one you
attended.
Students will learn to create words using root words and prefixes to create
their own kind of government. They will learn what democracy and
monarchy mean by looking at their root word and prefix.
Students will know what themes were included in Chapter 4.
Students should have fun with root words and prefixes.
Students should know what demo-, -cracy, -mono, and archy mean.
Students will use root words and/or prefixes to create new words to
describe a government they created.

Note: Let the students know they can make their words funny so they
could be more creative.
Students will write a statement where they compare and contrast the life
events celebrated in Jonass community to those celebrated in America.
Students will write on a sticky note a sentence from the story that supports
one of the themes. The sticky note will be posted on a chart that has
different themes.
Summarize Chapter 4.
Finish reading Chapter 5.
