We regret to inform you that you have not been select: anese Govern (Monbukagakusho, MEXT) Scholarship Student. Outlined herein are the conditions for enrollment. Please read this document thoroughly as it contains important information regarding the necessary procedures for entering Tokyo Institute of Technology. 1, Admission Procedure: 1.1, Required Payments ‘You will be a privately financed student when you enroll at Tokyo Institute of Technology. As such, you are required to make the following payments by the dates designated herein: Application Fee 30,000 Japanese Yen Admission Fee 282,000 Japanese Yen Annual Tuition 535,800 Japanese Yen (Admission fee and annual tuition are subject to change.) “The amounts indicated above do not include bank charges. 1.1.1, Application Fee Payment Deadline: June 10, 2016 ‘The application fee must itute of Technology by Jui If you fail to do so, your admission will be cancelled, Please note that your visa application process cannot begin until payment of the application fee is confirmed. Please make the payment as soon as possible, as the visa process is lengthy. ‘There are two methods for paying the application fee: a) Online Credit Card Payment ‘Payment period: March 4 - June 10, 2016 Please visit the following secure website and choose the "Examination Fee" and then choose the appropriate school, department and course to complete your credit card payment: hitps://e-shiharai.net/english/ Af {ng vour payment, please ttachment to payment. ‘Tokyo Institute of Technology will NOT ACCEPT payments made by CASH or CHECKS. b) ‘Temporary payment by your academic supervisor on your behalf If you choose this method, please consult with your academic supervisor in advance. 1.1.2, Admission and Tuition Payments You are required to pay the admission fee and tuition to Tokyo Institute of Technology at the time of the On-site Admission Procedures described below. However, Tokyo Institute of Technology exempts a certain number of qualified students from paying the admission fee and tuition each semester. If you wish to be considered for these fee exemptions, you must complete and submit the necessary exemption application forms by the deadline stated in the document enclosed in the admission package separately sent to your academic supervisor in early September 2016, ‘Tokyo Institute of Technology offers a payment deferral option for qualifying applicants while fee exemption requests are being processed. Under this option, you may postpone payment of the admission fee and tuition until exemption selections are announced in early December 2016. If you wish to apply for this payment deferral option, you must submit a set of required documents as part of your admission procedures. If you are unable to do so, your academic supervisor can act as your proxy and complete the admission procedures on your behalf. Tokyo Institute of Technology will provide your academic supervisor with an outline of the required documents in early September 2016. For further information, please contact your academic supervisor directly. 1.2, Required On-site Admission Procedures: Thursday, September 15 and Friday, September 16, 2016 You are required to participate in the on-site admission procedures on September 15 and September 16, 2016 at Tokyo Institute of Technology. Admission documents will be sent to your academic supervisor in early September 2016. If you are unable to attend due to a late arrival in Japan or other valid reason, a proxy can complete the admission procedures on your behalf. Please contact your academic supervisor for more information. 1.8, Certificates You are required to submit the following certificates as part of the admission procedures even if, ‘you have already submitted them at the time of application. [t is highly recommended that you prepare these documents in advance, ‘* Certificate of Graduation (original or certified copy) '* Official Academic Transcript (original or certified copy) 2.Visa All international students who plan to study at Tokyo Institute of Technology are required to ‘obtain a “Student” status visa. It is your responsibility to ensure that you obtain your visa prior to the program start date, ‘There are two methods to apply for a student visa. Please be sure to inform us which of the below methods you will pursue in applying for_your vi te the enclosed Pledi ‘Statement and submit it to us as ane nt by June 10, 2016, a) Applying through your academic supervisor at Tokyo Institute of Technology If you choose this method, please ask your academic supervisor prior to beginning the visa ition process, Should vou be unable our academic supervisor tospo1 is recommended that vou select b) Applying through a legal representative Under this method, Tokyo Institute of Technology will appoint an administrative scrivener who is affiliated with Tokyo Institute of Technology as your legal representative for your visa application (hereinafter, the “Representative") and provide the Representative with your email address, and the Representative will contact you directly. ‘The Representative will prepare the documents necessary to apply for a student visa on your behalf. You will be charged approximately 21,600 Japanese yen for this service (subject to change). Once Tokyo Institute of Technology has confirmed your selection of method a) or b) and has received your Pledge Statement, we will process an application for your "Certificate of Eligibility for Status of Residence” (COE). This application is the first step in the process for obtaining your visa, After the Immigration Bureau has approved your application, they will issue a COE to your proxy in a) or b). Your proxy will then send you the official COE by postal mail. To obtain your visa, please bring this COE, along with your passport, to the Japanese embassy or consulate in your home country. The Japanese embassy or consulate will then process and issue your student visa Please refer to the website of the Japanese embassy or consulate in your home country for specific details on the visa process. ‘3. Dormitories Information on dormitory accommodations will be announced in late August 2016. However, please note that applicants who have previously resided in Japan are not eligible for dormitory accommodations. Should you have any inguiries regarding dormitory accommodations, please email the Student Support Division at gak.sei@jim.titech.ac.jp. When sending inquiries, please also include your name and the name of your intended program at Tokyo Institute of ‘Technology.
