Dear Kainalu Parents:

Aloha, my name is Denis Baik. I am a teacher candidate from the University of Hawaii at
Manoas General Education Program. I am writing to inform you that I will be in Mrs.
Tracy Chings first grade classroom as a teacher candidate for my second year in the
program. I will be working alongside Mrs. Ching in your childs classroom every
Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30am to 2:45pm in the first semester. For the second
semester of school, I will be student teaching every day, Monday through Friday, until the
end of the University of Hawaiis academic calendar. The field experience is a perfect
opportunity for teacher candidates to learn about the day-to-day tasks in the classroom
while providing me with hands-on experience with students. With careful collaboration
and planning, I will lead and assist Mrs. Chings classroom to gain experience with
instruction and engaging students.
As a former nursing major, I believe that I wanted to be someone who could make a
difference, save, and impact peoples lives. Now as an educator, I want to impact the
students in their education through positive experiences and outlook on school. I believe
in the importance of education and I want to help students realize their full potential.
I am very excited to be a part of your childs classroom. If you have any questions please
do not hesitate to speak to me at school or direct them to Mrs. Ching.
