Process Paper

Our History Day project is about Galileo Galilei. Our project presents Galileos life, the
discoveries he had, and proving theories right and wrong. We chose this topic because we felt
like it was connected to the theme Exploration, Encounter, and Exchange the most and took a
great interest in the topic. We took interest in how he fought the Catholic Church to prove he was
right about many theories and how he accomplished many achievements in his life and how he
proved that the Earth isnt the center of the universe, and how he proved all items fall at the same
speed.
Research was conducted through the internet and books. We split our work and we each
looked for primary and secondary sources. The source that benefited us the most was
Encyclopedia Britannica. because it connected to all three subjects and talked Galileos early
life, how he faced many problems, and how he discovered a lot about space and planets. We
found many other sources that had helped us but we felt that this one helped us the most.
We chose the website because we felt like it was an easier way to show all of our work.
We also felt like it would help other people who view it and are doing History Day, it would help
with their sources and give them an idea about Galileo.
Galileo Galilei relates to the theme of Exploration, Encounter, and Exchange, which
you would see in our theme statements, because Galileo encountered problems with the Catholic
Church, discovered different planets and their moons, and he exchanged his ideas about what he

thought about Earth not being the center of the universe, which is how he got problems with the
church because of his ideas.
