Michael Render a.k.a.

Killer Mike
BLACK EXCELLENCE

Jordan Morrow
February 20th, 2016

Persona

Michael Render was born on April 20th, 1975.

He was earlier known as Mike Bigga to his audiences and followers

He started off as an independent rapper who gained notoriety in

Atlanta

He later signed to various music labels and featured in many renowned

celebrities songs

As he gained more recognition he became more political with the

lyricism of his songs

After defining himself as a new social figure in the rap industry, he

renamed himself as Killer Mike

Activism

Killer Mike talks about a wide range of social controversies, but

focuses on social equality, police brutality, and systematic racism

He feels as if it is every Black persons responsibility to represent

their race and the best way he can do that is by using his voice

Other than music, Killer Mike has been interviewed openly and asked
on many news outlets about his opinions on racial injustices

He also got involved with the 2016 election and introduced Bernie
Sanders at his campaign rally in Atlanta

Black Excellence

Killer Mike hasnt done anything unique just by implementing

racial affairs into his music

What makes Killer Mike special is that he is better known as a

political figure than a rapper as he struggles to maintain that
title

Hes dynamic and can do both simultaneously & doesnt go

through periods of temporary racial support as other like him do

He doesnt only talk about the huge crises, he also talks about
the various smaller ones as well

He represents Black people through a platform that Whites tend

to believe is harmful, destructive, and unproductive
