Just Breathe

by Shawn Muench

One day, Tommy was at home alone. He was bored.

The clock ticked on the wall

What was he going to do?

and he sighed

Then he got an idea.

I know! Ill go to the window, pull the drawstring, and look outside for Bella Bear. Maybe shell
come to play. Tommy went to the window. When he pulled the string, the blinds went up.
Tommy peered outside, squinting in the sunlight. Outside, in the alley, Bella
Bear was playing ball. He slid open the window.

Now he called to her. Bella

Bear! Come over to play! Bella thundered across the street with her big feet.
She came inside. Hi Tommy! Lets play ball! Tommy was so excited! They spread out across
the living room. First they tossed the ball.

Then they bounced the ball.

It was lots of fun. They rolled the ball, and disaster struck. The ball veered right, hit the table,
and the vase on top teetered, teetered.. and crashed to the ground.

Bella

Bear and Tommy were silent. Im outta here! Bella said, and her big feet rushed out the door.
Tommy was scared. What was his father going to say about the vase?

Just then, a cat came around the corner. It was a funny cat, one that had purple fur. She
looked at Tommy and said Take a deep breath, just relax. Tommy took a deep breath.
Then he took another one.

Now he was more calm. He looked at the cat. Cats

arent purple! he thought. And bears dont play ball!

He woke up from his dream and laid in bed. Tommy was relieved. He went downstairs,
opened the blinds,

and opened the window.

He took a deep breath.

It was a beautiful morning.

The end.
