Although there have been actions taken fo adress these problems, many of my constituents ae deply concerned ‘vith potential ongoing health risks to their families, delayed and confused responses by the State and Federal agencies involved, and lack of accountability tind out what happened and why i was allowed 1 go on aller the intial deicction ofthe contamination of their water supply. Its this ast component regarding accountability that lam referring fo the House Oversight and Government Reform Commitee, Critical questions residing the actions othe federal Envitonmental Protection Agency, New York State Department of Health, and New York State Department of “Environmental Conservation remain unanswered. Regrettably the New York Legislature as changed course and now will not conduet oversight hearings on what went wrong and why after stating they would be holding hearings onthe matter. This has ony inereased frastaton and concern amongst many ‘of my constituents and myself tht our regulatory agencies are not facing the necessary and appropriate ‘oversight oftheir actions, Based on this, am requesting tat your Committe Took into this mater immediately so thatthe imistakos canbe identified, scsountailty canbe achieved, and recommendations based an the lessons learned can be implemented moving Forward.
