The Egyptians believed that when you die, you go on a journey to find the afterlife. This
is the reason that they bury their dead with weapons and perform spells, to protect the deceased
from any harm that may come to him. Each Egyptian loved life though, and so that is why they
wanted it to continue on in the Afterlife. However, no matter how prepared they were, there was
always the fear of their heart being weighed heavier than the Feather of Truth, which would then
lead to their heart being devoured by Amenti, causing the soul to cease to exist. Some people
fear death, but I believe it I something that cannot be stopped.
I have accepted the fact of my death and I know there is nothing I can do to stop it. I
believe in a life after this one, in the Kingdom of Heaven. However, I am afraid of death. Not
because I doubt Heavens existence, but because I also believe in Hell. I have a constant worry
of whether or not I will have eternal peace or eternal punishment.
A hero faces death every day, and the Egyptian heroes are no different. Each hero, such as
Isis, goes on some difficult journey that could risk destroying their existence for the greater good.
For Isis it was the journey to resurrect Osiris so that he could be King until Horus was ready.
This was dangerous as she had to remain hidden from Set, Osiris brother and the one who
destroyed him. Isis completed the journey, but failed in the task, because Osiris eventually stayed
in the Afterlife as Ruler of the Dead and judged the souls of the mortals who have died.
