The purpose of this letter is to recommend Braden Royer as recipient of your scholarship. I had the privilege of teaching Braden as a sophomore in my accelerated chemistry I course and as a junior in my honors inorganic and organic chemistry course. Braden is also enrolled in my honors biochemistry course, a senior elective. Braden has consistently been a hard worker. He is not afraid to ask questions, and his questions are specific enough to help him gain the core knowledge of the content. On a number of occasions, I have observed Braden working in groups helping his peers. Braden is also a careful and focused individual in the laboratory. He applies his academic skills to all of his classes, earning himself a position on the A honor roll and a seat in the National Honor Society. Braden is involved in a number of extracurricular activities including the swim team, Reynoldsville soccer, physics club, the pupil enrichment program, science team, and student council. He won the math student award here at the high school as a freshman and a junior. Braden is in a number of leadership roles as well, including the president of the National Honor Society, and the treasurer of both the physics club and pupil enrichment program. He also works part-time at the DuBois T.J.Maxx. These activities and leadership roles are important experiences, but they do take time away from academics. Bradens ability to manage his time between these activities and his academics is an incredibly valuable skill for college-bound students. Braden volunteers for a number of events hosted by the National Honor Society, at Christ the King Manor nursing home, and events held at his church. This list of organizations with which Braden is involved also exemplifies his willingness to give up his own time to help others, another quality that is not often found in high school students. As you can see, Braden has made a positive impression on me, others teachers, the administration and his peers. His academic integrity, time-management skills, and volunteerism will allow him to make a similar if not a more impressive impact at the college level. Braden has earned my recommendation, and I hope that this letter has helped you decide to choose him as recipient of your scholarship. Sincerely,
John R. Keith DuBois High School Chemistry Department
