Librarian Interview Questions


1. How do your background, education, and work experiences qualify you for the position of
Library Media Specialist?
R. I have a good understanding of the important role and the impact that the personnel of a library has
in students and teachers of an institution, my technical, creative and customer service skills will help
to improve this culture of teaching and providing outstanding services to them.
2. What is your philosophy of education? How does your vision of the school library fall within
this philosophy?
R. I believe that education is the most important tool to fix the current problems of the present and
to build a better future in our communities, a librarys role to this is fundamental as it has all the
information and the knowledge to obtain high academic achievement in education.
3. How would you integrate technology and information literacy skills into your work with
students and teachers?
R. I am very proficient in technology, and I am also very aware of the importance of its use in the
development of the students and professors so I am always up to date with technology, I will be able to
provide ethical and safe use of technology to improve the students education.
4. How do you connect what you do in the library with the classroom curriculum?
R. I believe that a librarian should collaborate with classroom teachers to design better teaching
applications, by co-teaching the students will have a better learning experience.
5. What do you see as the role of the librarian in the school setting and what do you hope to
bring to the library?
R. I want to become a fundamental part of the library, an instructional leader, someone easy to
communicate with and being able to bring new and innovative ideas for the best of the students.

6. What kind of library attracts students, staff and parents?
Libraries that are warm and welcoming for students, staff and parents, they should be well maintained
and comfortable, but most important have a great and happy staff with great communication skills.
7. What is library automation? How do you use and maintain a library automation
system?
R. is the application of ICTs (information and communications technology - or technologies)
to library operations and services. The functions that may be automated are any or all of the following:
acquisition, cataloging, public access, indexing and abstracting, circulation, serials management, and reference.
