This article examines the long term affects of spanking children at a young age.
Studies have found that it causes effects on cognitive development. Parents think it
is acceptable to spank their children because it isnt abuse but the long term affects
can be just as bad as abuse.

This article examines the relationship between spanking and child development
during the first 5 years of life. The author determined that there is a relationship
between spanking at age 1 and behavior problems at age 3 and 5. There isnt any
association between spanking at age 1 and cognitive skills at age 3 or 5.
