This research is entitled Representation of Poverty Language through
Journalistic Photography in the Anugrah Pewarta Foto Indonesias Book 2011
(Semiotic Study About Poverty in the Journalistic Photography Language on Anugrah
Pewarta Foto Indonesias Book 2011). The Incidental pictures that happened during
2011 has been summarized in the annual event of Pewarta Foto Indonesias book
Pewarta Foto Indonesias Award which is the issue of poverty in 2011 become a
representation of state of the nation. This research is an analysis research about how
poverty language being described through journalistic photography that summarized in
the Anugrah Pewarta Foto Indonesia 2011s book.
The purpose of this research is to analysis about how poverty language delivered
through journalistic photography. The researchs method used in this study is a Roland
Barthess semiotic approach, analyzed the sign elements into a language forms in the
journalistic photograph. This approach operates the definition of the denotative and
connotative.
The results of this study shows that in denotative meanings obtained from
analyzing the poverty photographs in Anugrah Pewarta Foto Indonesia 2011s book
gives a real visualization about how poverty still happens in the big cities. And through
the eyes of the camera, it recorded about a living that rely on the streets, in addition to
that analyzed photograph is also obtained about poverty in every regions of Indonesia.
About how the poor society in Papua illustrated as a real as it is in this analyze
photographs study.
