It has been my pleasure to have been a Student Teacher Supervisor for Nikhita Reddy who served as a student teacher
in grade 6 at the Eastshore Elementary School during the winter quarter of the 2015-2016 school year, and is presently
in grade 2 at the Meadow Park Elementary School, both in IUSD, Irvine, California.
I have found Nikhita demonstrates the flexibility necessary to be an effective teacher. Her lessons are adjusted to
meet the individual needs of students. She creates a classroom environment that is engaging, stimulating, student
centered, interesting and fun. Nikhita enjoys teaching which can be seen by the enthusiasm and personal charm she
displays in the classroom. She has a great smile which was evident during her interactions with the children.
In her grade 6 assignment, Nikhita implemented backward planning in her units in math and social studies. She
worked with students to create their own rubrics to assess their own speaking and listening skills. She implemented
school wide PBIS system in both her grade 6 and 2 assignments. During both assignments, Nikhita had the
opportunity to use technology to enhance and support learning.
Nikhita worked very closely with the grade 6 and 2 teachers at Eastshore and Meadow Park in implementing
units/lessons that support Common Core. Each of her lessons has been objective driven and the support materials are
implemented in order to develop reasoning and understanding.
I have found Nikhita to be a very effective student teacher. She is a quick learner which was demonstrated early in
her assignments by her understanding of the classroom organization, academic program, and routines. Her master
teachers have provided a superb model for Nikhita, and after a few weeks in her assignment, she has demonstrated the
ability to fully implement all of the programs and procedures.
