Case Study

Accounting:
Your supervisor enters your office and asks you for a check for $150.00 for expenses he tells
you he incurred entertaining a client last night. He submits receipts from a restaurant and lounge.
At lunch your supervisors girlfriend stops by to pick him up for lunch and you overhear her
telling the receptionist what a great time she had at dinner and dancing with your supervisor the
night before. What do you do?

Ethical Dilemmas
To ignore your supervisors dishonesty.
To report him to the head accounting officer
Choices
To ignore your supervisors dishonesty.
Pros:
-

It is his private life and you have nothing to do about it.

Just do your job and mind your own business

It is one way of maintaining your job

I will not be loyal to the company.

Cons:

To report him to the head accounting officer

Pros:

The head accounting officer will know the wrong doings of the supervisor

The head accounting officer will trust you upon saying the truth

I will maintain on my job as long as I have evidence and the head officer will
trust my honesty.

Cons:
-

I claim that the supervisor will get mad at me

Theres a possibility that I will lose my job in his department

Therefore, I will ignore the supervisors dishonesty? Why? Because, if I would tell
somebody or the head accounting officer about the incident then I interfere the life of
others and it is not my duty. Maybe the head accounting officer do the same act as well
so I dont trust easily on somebody. In dialect terms walang sekreto na hindi
nabubulgar so maybe in the future some will witness it and its my supervisors
conscience and not mine. I will just do my job as his secretary and nothing less. As long
as I am honest with my duties and follows the regulations of the company then I am
preserving my position.
