    fitperfectlywiththisyearstheme,soitwasalogicalchoicetostudyforNationalHistoryDay.
    ResearchProcess
    Researchbeganslowly:theJacobiteswereactiveforoversixtyyears,soearlyonIhad
    troublefocusinginoncertaineventsanddetails.HistorianssuchasLouiseYeomanproved
    invaluableinexplainingthepoliticsandconflictsoftheeighteenthcentury.ItwascrucialthatI
    hadabitofbackgroundbeforedivingintomythesis.Ialsospentalotoftimeresearching
    individualfigures,sinceIplannedonhavingbriefbiosinthefinalsite.Finally,theinternetwas
    theperfectplacetofindvariousprimarysourcessuchasnewspaperclippingsandparliamentary
    documents.Ifoundtheseinterestinginandofthemselvesastheyreliterallypiecesofhistory
    rightbeforeyoureyes.Manyofthesesourceshadtoberevisedslightlyonthesitetoagreewith
    presentdayconventionsoftheEnglishlanguage.Ultimately,myresearchstartedoffslowbut
    progressedwellasIfocusedmytopic.
    SelectionandCreationofProduct
    IhadgreatsuccesswithmyNHDwebsitelastspring,soitwasalogicalchoicecoming
    intomyprojectthisyear.Awebsitehastheaddedadvantageofbeingeditablefromanywhere
    withacomputer,anditcannevergetlostordestroyedintransitbetweenhomeandschool.Ive
    alsoalwayshadaknackfordesignandcomputers,sothewebsiteoptionappealedtome.Similar

    tolastyear,thedesignofthesiteevolvedalotfrombeginningtoendasIcontinuedtogather
    informationandvisuals.Ultimately,ImustadmitthatitdoesntflowinquitethewayIwanted,
    buttheresearchispresentedinaclearandchronologicalway.ThisyearIalsointroducedthe
    elementoftimelinesintotheprojectusingcustomHTML.Ithinkthetimelineswereveryhelpful
    incommunicatingthetimescopeoftheevents.
    ConnectiontoTheme
    Althoughadmittedlyunsuccessfulintheend,theJacobiterisingswereaperfectexample
    ofpeopletakingastand.ThemovementdrewthemajorityofitssupportersfromtheScottish
    highlands,agroupwhowasnormallyheardfromverylittleinBritishpolitics.Theexampleof
    theJacobitesactionsinspiredmanyotherstotakeastandacrossthecountryforwhatthey
    believedin.Evenasmultipleuprisingswereextinguishedandsupportwasscattered,loyalmen
    andwomencontinuedtofightandshowtheirallegiance.ThisishowtheJacobitemovement
    embodiesthethemeoftakingastand.
