Background of the study

Schizophrenia is a brain disorder that probably


comprises several separate illness . The
hallmark symptom is psychosis such as
experiencing hallucinations and delusions ,
impaired cognition or a disturbance in thought
process . people with Schizophrenia have lower
rates of employment, marriage and
independent living compared to other normal
people.
Treatment includes integration of medical,
psychological, and psychosocial inputs.
Psychosocial and mental or family support is
the most essential part of treatment.
AlthoughSchizophrenia existed but never had
been recognized as health problem that are
uniquely responsive to set of investigations.
Instead of that it is defined as religious,
political and philosophical problems and is
subjected to non-therapeutic treatments
including Exorcism, Imprisonment and Social
Outracism.

Need for the study

Many people are still unaware that there are


effective treatments for Schizophrenia nearly
50-60% Schizophrenic patients recovers in 3-8
months by combination of regular medication
and effective caregiving and family support to
the patient
