POLITICS

IN
INDIA

POLITICS OF INDIA
ThePolitics of Indiatakes place within the
framework of afederalconstitutional republic,
in which the
President of Indiais
head of stateand the
Prime Minister of India
is thehead of
government.
Executive poweris exercised
by the President and is independent of the
legislature.

The first two Prime Ministers of India, Jawaharlal

Nehru and Lalbahadur Shastri, ruled till their deaths.

India is a nation that is characterized as

"sovereignsocialistseculardemocratic
republic" despite the fact that thecaste
system in Indiastill exists.
The central government in
India has greater power in
relation to itsstates.

ROLE OF PLOLITICAL PARTIES

As any other democracy, political parties
represent different sections among the Indian
society and regions, and their
core values play a major
role in the politics of India.
Both the executive branch
and the legislative branch of
the government are run by
the representatives of the
political parties who have
been elected through the
elections.

India has a multi-party system, where there

are a number of national as well as regional
parties.

In the 63 years since India's independence,

India has been ruled by the
Indian National Congress(INC) for 51 of
those years.
SUCCESS AT
ITS BEST

Perhaps that is the reason Indian Politics is

called
FAMILY POLITIC.

Thelack of homogeneityin the Indian

population causes division between different
sections of the people based
onreligion,region,language,casteandrace.
This has led to the rise of political parties with
agendas catering to one or a mix of these
groups.

Indian Politics will not be

the same again

And the most awaited
