This method is applied to :
paddy, brown rice, white rice,
wheat , barley, naked barley, buck
wheat , soybean and beans in form
of grain

The result is the arithmetic
mean of two separate
determinations of the
moisture contents which
meet the repeatability
requirement,
shall not exceed 0.1%.
Round the result to one places
of decimals.

In case of samples to
be ground, provide a
test portion slightly
greater than 5g
before grinding, and
weigh all the grind.
Weigh the test
portions after
grinding to the

Place the open dishes
containing the test
portions together with
the lids in the oven
and leave for
5hr5min from the
moment when
the oven temperature
is regained to 106.5
C 1.0 C.
Do not open the oven
door during drying.

dishes have
cooled to the
laboratory
temperature,
weigh them to
the nearest
0.1mg.

5. Calculation and expression


of results

The moisture content, mx, expressed as


percentage by mass is given by the following
equations.
mx =(1 w1/w0)100%
where w0 and w1 are the weights, in grams, of
the test portion and the dried test portion,
respectively.

The result is the arithmetic mean of two


measurements values which meet the
