Turkey by Leanne Guenther

There once was a turkey named Chummy,
Mom thought that he might be quite yummy.
He waddled away
On Thanksgiving Day -But still ended up in my tummy!

An Acrostic Poem

A free verse poem about anything, BUT using capital letters, it should spell out a word or phrase.

Example:

Elizabeth it is in vain you say

"Love not" thou sayest it in so sweet a way:
In vain those words from thee or L. E. L.
Zantippe's talents had enforced so well:
Ah! if that language from thy heart arise,
Breathe it less gently forth and veil thine eyes.
Endymion, recollect, when Luna tried
To cure his love was cured of all beside
His folly pride and passion for he died.

Edgar Allan Poe

An Alphabet Poem
A free verse poem, BUT somehow, the poem must go in alphabetical order. (by word or by line)
Example:
World War Two by Angelas Poems

Air raid shelters, damp and black

Bombs exploding, back to back
Children crying, adults too
Down the cellar after you
Evacuees on the train
Farewells said in pouring rain
Gone to live in some strange place
Hoping for a friendly face.
In the city, parents wait
Just to hear of their childs fate
Knowing that they have arrived
Leaves them thankful theyve survived
Memories now not theirs to make
No hugs or kisses; birthday cake.
Only painful loss is theirs
Parting sorrow, daily prayers.
Quick to jar them from their pity:
Raids repeating on the city.
Sirens screeching, chaos calls,
Thunderous noise as buildings fall.
Underground : imaginations,
Violent earth reverberations.
Why oh Why? Despair abounds.
eXit all, as fear resounds..
Yesterday for now is gone
Zeal for life and peace lives on.
