Theory
A theorist I can link this
practice to is Canter. I
believe this resembles
his theory of Assertive
Discipline. The reason I
believe this practice is
linked to his theory is
because the purpose of
this practice and theory
are to get students to
choose to conduct
themselves properly.

Example:
Attention Getters
Attention getter are vey
similar to callbacks
except that in this case
teachers use some sort
of noise makers to get
their students attention.

Another theorist I can

Morrish. The theory this
practice resembles is
Real Discipline. In this
theory, teacher are
supposed to set rules for
conduct in the school
environment and they
need to make sure their
procedures become very
efficient routines.
I learned this practice
from Rick Morris. Morris
has many effective
classroom management
strategies. Noise makers
are effective because
they are unfamiliar sound
that get students
attention. I have seen
teachers use squeaky
toys as the noise maker.
When students hear the
noise the put their hands
on their head and eyes

I will us this practice in
my classroom. I think this
an effective practice to
get students and
attention and to refocus
students.. I will modify it
by having students use
some sort of physical
response (TPR) when
answering back. I think
this would make this
practice more effective
because it will keep all
students engaged. It
could also work for
students who are hard of
hearing.

I plan on using this
practice in my future
class. I like the idea of
keeping students
accountable for their
actions and also being
able to keep track of
their behavior.
Transitions
&
Routines
appropriate behavioral
choices that lead
ultimately to personal
success. Playing music
to get students to
transition is effective
because it allows
students to have
routines, which allows for
a safe environment. The
more the students know
the routine the more the
classrooms behavior is
managed. This allows
students to be on task
and hopefully lead to
personal success.
