Fourth quarter has been alive with all things green! This quarter we focused our
efforts on celebrating our hard work in running a sustainable recycling program.
Additionally, we continued to spread awareness about what is recyclable and what is
not particularly pizza boxes!
The Green Cubs felt very fortunate to be included on the field trip to the Green
Summit at Sandy Point state park this year. The younger students were excited to see
what the older kids were doing and how it connected to them. They really enjoyed the
high school students who presented their projects at the summit! Maybe next year we
will try to submit something :)

In addition to student work, I have been working on creating a cohesive garden

map and assigning interested teachers garden beds. Additionally, I have kept a log of all
the plants that have been planted in each garden bed over the years and am using that
data to make recommendation to teachers regarding what plants would best suit their
assigned bed. This communication and map are emblematic of much of the ongoing
work and communication I have been having with the school administration all year, and
for a few years.

It has been a great year of greening at Lakeland, and I look forward to many more!
