EDU CATI ON A L SE T TI N G

I am currently undertaking kindergarten placement at St Albans East

preschool and have grown quite fond of the centre and its key qualities. The
educators work co-operatively together to create a safe, secure and
stimulating atmosphere for the children in order for them to grow, socially,
mentally and emotionally. Educators primarily encompass the strong core
values of the Being, Belonging and Becoming early years framework.
Based on location majority of the families are from low socio-economic
backgrounds therefore, St Albans East believes as a community explore and
respect the diversity of culture , heritage and tradition. Furthermore,
respecting the environment, developing the ability to recognise unfairness and
value the importance of inclusion.
As educators, the uniqueness of a child is valued and nurtured, listening and
responding to childrens learning, believe in all childrens capacities to
succeed despite diverse circumstances/abilities and incorporating children's
social context by adding their traditions and heritage within the program. In
addition, it is believe that the best learning takes place through play,
therefore, most activities and play based learning programs enabling children
discovering their fullest potential. Moreover, the centre primarily focuses on
creating opportunities for children to play, discover, explore and imagine,
educators also focus on encouraging childrens independence and self
confidence.
Within the centre there is one Kinder garden teacher and two co - educators.
One co - educator had recently been recruited due to the new rules in relation
to the children to educator ratios. Each day the centre has 25-30 children. In
relation to the timetable, there are four groups, three groups are present each
day, this rotates throughout the week.
