Introduction 15 mins ‘+ Gather children on the floor to talk about their excursion the day before ‘+ Give them a few minutes to write down key vocabulary from their excursion. Think, pair, share ‘+ Write this key vocabulary on the whiteboard + Give students 2 minutes of free whiteboard time B. Development 10-15 mins * Have students face the smart board, show them an example of a recount from the website and highlight key aspects of the piece (emotive language, signposting, paragraphs, conclusion) ‘+ Give students a few minutes to write their plan on their whiteboards. * When they are ready they can go to their tables and begin their writing, ©. Consolidation, practice, extension 30 mins + Students are to use the plans created on their whiteboards to create their recount of their excursion to task works * Teacher's role will be to walk around the room to assist children with their questions and to help students who may be struggling to begin at this time. + If students are seen using their whiteboards inappropriately they will be taken away (warn them before sending them off to their tables, ask what would inappropriate behaviour be seen as) D. Closure 40 mins Have students come back to the fioor, and have a few students share what they have been writing about.
