ALBER Department of Elementary Education Sas nanan ae aes noe a Pllc lenge eee i= February 5, 2008 To whom it may concern, It is my pleasure to write this letter of reference for Lindsay Gustafson’s application for a teaching position in your school district. I was Lindsay’s instructor for Introduction to Curriculum and Instruction in Elementary Physical Education (EDEL 321) at the University of Alberta in the winter of 2007. Lindsay demonstrated very high academic achievement in my course. She proudly holds the distinction of earning the very first perfect score on all of the midterms I administered in the course. She actively and enthusiastically participated in classroom discussions and physical education activities in the gymnasium. Using the Alberta Program of Studies, she designed effective and developmentally appropriate lesson plans and assessment tools for various learning outcomes. She is familiar with a variety of equipment that can be used to meet all areas of the physical education curriculum. In her assignments, Lindsay was able to critically analyze a variety of existing lesson plans. She demonstrated a strong ability to plan appropriate modifications and differentiated instruction for the successful inclusion of learners with special learning needs. Lindsay was also willing to critically examine and reflect upon her teaching experiences and general beliefs regarding elementary physical education. In addition, Lindsay has begun collecting materials for her work as a teacher. She has a large selection of physical education tasks and resources appropriate for a range of ages. Her noticeable energy and enthusiasm made her a pleasure to work with and will serve her well with colleagues and students alike. I would describe her as dedicated student that has the talent to be a very skilled teacher. Given Lindsay’s many strengths and talents, I strongly recommend her for a position with your school district. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, 2) Colin Saby Full-time Sessional Instructor and Provisional M. Ed Thesis Candidate Phone: (780) 492-0559 E-mail: csaby@ualberta.ca
