aroundtheblocksixtimes.Theseventhtimetheydroveinthealleyandheardsirens.Louie's
cousinstoppedthecar,madethemgetout,tookoffandcrashedintoalamppost.Thepolice
gotLouieoutofthecar,arrestedhim,anddroveawaywithhim.SandraCisneroscreatesa
dramaticandhumoroustonethroughtheuseofsimilesandvoice.Someofthesimilessheuses
thathavethebestimageryare,ThatnoseoftheCadillacwasallpleatedlikeanalligator's,
Theseatswerebigandsoftlikeasofa,(23).Sheusesthesimilestocomparethethingsthat
arehappeninginthevignettetogiveyoubetterimageryofwhatsheisdescribing.Shealso
usesvoicetotalkasifsheisayoungchild,anddescribesthingsasa10yearoldwould,for
