During this experience, classroom routines were quickly learned, followed, and taken over. Miss Tintle took the time to learn about the students and was able to gear the lessons to their strengths and interests. All aspects of teaching were taken over, including, but not limited to, planning for the day, lesson preparation, implementation, and evaluation (both formal and informal). Monitoring was constant and lessons were modified when needed. Lessons were Common Core aligned using the Journeys reading program and Envision math series. The lessons were developed with careful thought about getting the students to understand the subject in an interesting and varied manner. The students were engaged throughout the lessons. The class was conducted through whole class instruction, small group, and with individual students. Miss Tintle had good control of the class and treated the students with respect and dignity. The students developed a trust and mutual respect toward her and were truly upset when her experience was over. Miss Tintle was able and willing to accept ideas and incorporated them into lessons that followed. She was able to reflect on her lessons to identify areas that were successful or that needed improvement. Her attendance was excellent! Miss Tintle was able to take over the class on short notice and had a very successful day. I would recommend Melissa Tintle for an elementary position and feel that she would be an asset to any classroom and school.
