Refugees have been the most controversial topic faced by many nations.

These people are

leaving home to escape persecutions based on race religion, religion, or nationality. Now, is it
ethical for countries to deny refugees coming to live a better life?
Nations should have an automatic responsibility to welcome refugees and provide them a high
standards of living for the following reasons: to promote humanitarian help, equality, and the
ideology of democracy.
First, countries, like the United States, have been helping nations suffering from oppression.
Humanitarian aid is perhaps a responsibility that most nations must adopt. It should come from
within and not be due to a burden they must remove. For example, people from bangladesh and
myanmar are travelling by boats to escape the countrys persecution. They have ended up in
Indonesia and Thailand, in which they are being provided with food and shelter. This type of aid
is necessary to increase human welfare.
Second, promoting equality and the ideology of democracy is what most countries need to
adopt; as a result, refugees must be given the right to have a fair and equal life. After all, we are
all human beings and the only desire we have is to be safe in our own home country. If that
does not work, then they might fulfill this desire elsewhere. Democracy is all about treating
people equally and if one can provide that by allowing refugees in then why not.
Some people think that nations should only be focusing on their domestic policies and
economies to boost the countrys standard of living. Allowing refugees in might cause a hostile
relationship between two nations this can lead to economic sanctions and military threats, all of
which are barriers to economic growth. They also believe that its the countrys responsibility to
provide assistance for their subjects, and not other countries business.
In conclusion, refugees should be allowed to have a good lifestyle and nations should also
understand their situation. Not only will you be respected, but many would come to think of you
as a life saviour. Indonesia, Thailand and Italy are already on the move in helping refugees and
it is time for others to recognize this issue and act immediately.
