Introduction

omputed tomography (CT) is a medical imaging

odality to obtain the internal cross-sectional image o
human body using x-ray projection data.
Two major concerns of CT imaging are

Radiation dose
Computational time

Challenges to overcome
Reducing the radiation dose increases
the image noise
Reducing the computational time
lowers the image resolution

Literature Review
There are two main approaches of CT
image reconstruction:
(i) Filtered back-projection (FBP)
technique
(ii) Iterative reconstruction (IR)
technique such as SART.
FBP technique is computationally
efficient but requires more radiation
dose as compare to IR.
IR technique requires lass radiation

Proposed Method : Basic

Concept
Sub-pixel Shifted
Images
Two images of the
same scene shifted
by a fraction are
sub-pixel shifted
images.
Contains new
information about
the same scene.

Proposed Method
Reconstruction of Sub-pixel Shifted LR

HR image Reconstruction
By cubic interpolation,
we produce an HR
image from each of
the LR images.

The images are then aligned accordingly and

the final HR image is formed as a weighted
combination of all the interpolated images

PROPOSED (PSNR = 25.42 dB)

Conclusion
The proposed method can produce
better image quality as compared to
conventional technique without
increasing the radiation dose
Since we reconstruct image from low
resolution images, the overall
reconstruction time is less than that
of conventional technique for
identical image size.
