Competency K: Maternal/Newborn Care

DESCRIBE ONE

One significant learning experience in this course related to the CLPNA

competency was learning about the many signs and symptoms, regarding
the pregnancy or the lack of thereof. I found out the many. Not all
nausea and vomiting are indications of pregnancy, nor was the absence
of menstrual cycle a solid proof.

NQV1.15

Overall, I would rate myself as good. Though I may have learned many
things in the duration of this course, I believe that working on that field
first-hand would be equally valuable if not more so. As such, my lack of
experience definitely abolishes the possibility of me attaining an
excellence in this competency.

In the future, this competency will be extremely useful when I try to

communicate with clients as well as their family that have questions
regarding the presence or absence of pregnancy. Even though I am not
planning to be a maternity nurse, I believe the knowledge will allow for
a competent nurse.
