SAGES NOTES ON USING THE DIRTY TING BROTHERS:

The Tings, or the type they represent, are all too common on the face of Shen Zhou.
Feel free to rename them, relocate them, reorient them theyll serve you well.
Whether as the village bullies, as disreputable kung fu skilled bandits, or simply as
nemeses for your players to defeat early on (a Courtier could beat them in a war of
wits, for example and then need protection from the savage beating that would
follow). The Tings represent martial artists obsessed with fame and looking good
and thats all too common in the World of Martial Arts.

SAGES NOTES ON USING YUE YONGWEN:
Yongwen is the pretty-boy who dates the girl you want. Hes the con-man
who gyps little old ladies out of meals. Hes the lazy layabout at court Who
spreads rumors, who always has more info than you do. And yet, he never
seems to pay probably because he slips away before you notice! Use him as
a foil at first then, when your players actually get the better of him, he
becomes a dangerous political enemy, who will rarely face them directly but
make their lives a living hell via indirect attacks through catspaws.

CHARACTERISTICS
A charming, slightly daffy old lady whose seeming
harmlessness masks a cold and cunning killer. Nobody
knows why Grandma Xung kills, least of all her victims,
which seem disturbingly random. She wanders the Empire
of Jin, sometimes telling fortunes, once in a while selling
sugared chestnuts and occasionally giving advice to
lovelorn young ladies. Invariably it all comes to woe
the fortunes turn out to be the opposite of what was told;
the sugared chestnuts are poisoned; and the young ladies
usually kill their families and then commit suicide. But to
date, the old lady has yet to develop any fame, though
there are now a few determined heroes who hunt her.

poison - it has Moderate (20) Lethality and a Potency of 4. It has a slight astringent smell and taste,
but she usually disguises it with lots of sugar or spice to disguise the telltale odor and flavor. One dose
is enough to render an entire basket of food utterly lethal to internal consumption.
SAGES NOTES ON USING GRANDMA XUNG:
Dont necessarily set the sweet little old granny-lady against the players directly
given players basic paranoia, its unlikely to work! Instead, employ Grandma
Xung once theyve gotten to know a place and love it, as well as some of the
NPCs. Then the time will be ripe for the Serial-Killing Granny to start her work!
