    followingthingslikeplayerstats,whichincludestheaveragepointspergamethateachplayer
    scores.AfterseeingthehugedifferencebetweenthehighestscorerintheNBAandmanyofthe
    lowest,Idecidedtoanalyzethedata.
    ThepopulationthatItookmydatafromisallofthe448currentNBAplayers.Ithen
    gaveanumbertoeachofthe448differentplayersandgenerated30randomnumbers.Ithen
    foundtheplayerthateachgeneratednumberpertainedtoandrecordedtheiraveragepointsper
    game.Itookthese30valuesandfoundtheiraverage,whichwas8.71.Mymethodofsampling
    generatedasimplerandomsample,becauseeachplayerintheNBAhadanequalchanceof
    beingchosentobepartofmysample.Thismeansthatbasedonmysample,theaveragepoints
    pergameofplayersintheNBAis8.71.
    Thissamplecouldnotberepresentativeofthewholepopulationbecausebasedonwhich
    30playersIrandomlyselected,theaveragepointscouldcomeoutasverydifferentresults.For
    example,IcouldhaverandomlypickedalotofthetopscorersintheNBA,whichwouldmake
    theaverageverydifferent.
