Impressionism is a style in painting originating


from France in the 1860s.It is a manner of
painting in which the forms, colours, or tones of
an object are lightly and rapidly indicated

VINCENT VAN GOGH

Vincent Van Gogh comes from Holland and he was born on


the 30th March 1853 and he died on the 29th of July 1890.
He was a post-impressionist painter and his work included
portraits, self portraits and landscapes.
He started painting only in his late twenties.
Vincent Van Gogh had a older brother with the same name
but he died at birth.
Vincent was supposed to be a pastor and follow his fathers
footsteps but he did not dedicate to this life
He enjoyed making self portraits as he painted over 30 of
them.
He was also very prolific as his most famous paintings were
produced in his last 10 years of his life. He produced 900
paintings in just 10 years.

STARRY NIGHT

Vincent Van Gogh painted the painting while he was in a


mental hospital in June 1889.
This painting is an oil painting and it is a picture of the
Dutch landscape and the night sky filled with stars with a
large dead tree in the background.
