Mentor

My mentor, Nicole Taylor, is a third

grade teacher at Dunaway Elementary
for Waxahachie Independent School
District. Ms. Taylor is a part of the
PLTW Launch Program launch STEM
team for the district and has set aside
time in her classroom to implement
the STEM concepts to her students.
She has a bachelors degree in
elementary education from Stephen F.
Austin State University. She has
guided me in understanding how
STEM introduced at an elementary
level and the activities used to engage
them. Through multiple higher
thinking projects the students minds
are driven to find inventive ways to
solve problems. I observed her 30
minutes twice a week during her STEM
instruction in the fall semester and

consultation during the spring

semester.
