Topic: Comparison between Korean school and American school


1. Introduction (Paragraph 1)
A. Hook: Importance of education institution, Mention about the fact that every
citizen in two countries attends the schools.
B. Connecting Information: Both countries governments put much money and
time to improve their education systems -> two countries have different cultures
and pursue different values -> different school system
C. Thesis statement: As Korea and the United States are located in totally
different places, Korean school and American school have many differences.
2. Body
A. Paragraph 2 (first point of comparison) topic sentence: First difference
between two schools is clothing
1) Korea -> need to wear the school uniform
a. the origin of school uniform in Korea
b. strict rules on school uniform
2) U.S.A -> need to wear plain clothes
a. has no strict rules on wearing clothes
b. students spend much money on buying famous brand clothes
B. Paragraph 3 (second point of comparison) topic sentence: Also, the school
feeding system is different
1) Korea -> little bit restricted
a. offer one menu per day. Every student and teacher eat fixed menu
b. pay money monthly
2) U.S.A. -> more freely
a. offer various menu such as hamburger, pizza
b. pay money everyday depending on menu (each menu has different prices)
C. Paragraph 4 (third point of comparison) topic sentence: Last difference
between two countries is the amount of time that students spend in school
1) Korea -> (high school) from morning to night 8AM~10PM almost 14hours
a. focus on getting into the University
b. time for self-studying until the night for scholastic ability test
2) U.S.A. -> from morning to afternoon 7AM~2PM almost 7hours
a. less focused on getting into the University
b. make students experience various things such as sports and club activities

A. Restated thesis: As Korea and the U.S.A. have their own unique cultures,
they have different education systems
B. Suggestion, opinion, or prediction: As school is important for all students,
countries should constantly improve their school systems by learning other
countries educational strengths.
