Topic: Effects of early English education


1. Introduction (Paragraph 1)
A. Hook: When was your first time learning English? In Korea, most of people
start learning English before they go into the elementary school
B. Connecting Information: Today since we are living in a globalized world, the
importance of English is constantly increasing. In Korea, English has become
essential so that many parents put great effort to teach their children English at
the youngest age
C. Thesis statement: As almost every child in Korea gets an early English
education at the youngest age, we should know the effects of early English
education
2. Body
A. Paragraph 2 (first cause or effect) topic sentence: One important effect of
early English education is parents severe financial burden
1) For the early English education, parents depend more on private educational
institute than school
2) In Korea, most private educational institutes require much money EX) English
kindergarten is twice as expensive as normal kindergarten
3) In severe cases, some parents spend more than half of their income on
private education for the early English education. Most of middle class parents
cannot afford to pay excessive amount of money on children education
B. Paragraph 3 (second cause or effect) topic sentence: Secondly, when
children get the early English education, it can rather hinder their language
development
1) Many Korean parents play the audio file which tells the fairy tale in English or
play English cartoon film since their children are very young, even before
acquiring native language, for the English improvement
2) This phenomenon hampers learning of native language and even brings the
confusion in language
3) As children get used to native language, children can have the power of logic
or numerical abilities due to its grammatical structure. However, if children get
the early English education, they might not get those abilities at the proper age
and it can be interruption for language development.
C. Paragraph 4 (third cause or effect) topic sentence: Lastly, early English
education is not directly related to the ones English ability

1) Ones ability can be made through ones great effort even after becoming an
old person
2) Example of UN president Ban Ki Moons proficient English ability. He did not
get the early English education when he was young.
3) Many devices are being developed constantly that improve peoples English
ability such as electronic dictionary. (It pronounces the words and makes people
to repeat and practice the pronunciation)
3. Conclusion (Paragraph 5)
A. Restated thesis: Since many children are getting early English education, we
should notice the effects of early English education
B. Suggestion, opinion, or prediction: Educating children in a proper way is very
important in our society. So we should figure out both positive and negative
effects of early English education and teach children English wisely.
