Nixxon enjoys listening to and talking about age-appropriate story

books and information books. Nixxon can understand that print
carries a message. He can follow the sequence of events in a
story and answer that demonstrate listening comprehension. He
also pretends to read and attempts to write. Nixxon can recognize
familiar labels and environmental print (signs for stores, street
signs). HE attends to chunks of sound in spoken language,
identifies rhymes and alliterations, and claps syllables. Nixxon can
also recognize many letters, especially those in meaningful words.
He can make some letter-sound matches and uses known letters
and letter-like symbols to represent written language.
