Formative Evaluation Process

The URL to the functional prototype will be emailed to all participants as well as a
list of evaluation questions. The participants will be asked to respond by
emailing the answers to the questions. A follow up phone call will be made to
each participant to clarify their responses.

Formative Evaluation Participants

There will be a total of 6 formative evaluation participants. Three of the
participants will be paramedic pharmacology students who will begin their course
in late August at Aims Community College. The other three will be subject matter
experts (SMEs). The SMEs are all currently practicing paramedics. Only the
paramedic students will be asked to take the mastery test questions at the end of
the unit. The mastery test questions will not be administered online but rather
they will be included in the formative evaluation questionnaire.

Formative Evaluation Questions

1. For SMEs only: “The Fluid Bolus lesson and practice would have been
helpful for me when I was a student in pharmacology” (Likert Scale: 1=I
totally agree, 5=I totally disagree). Do you have any comments that could
help me improve the lesson?

type of problems that I encounter in my job” (Likert Scale: 1=I totally
